Fort Saskatchewan City Council is considering the
construction of a new Civic Centre to house civic
staff, including Community Services staff. The
location across the street from the current City
Hall building on 102 Street was chosen in September,
2006. Since then an architect has been hired and
City Council and Administration have been working
with neighbours and other stake holders to determine
the needs and size of the project.
A citizens group has started a petition asking City
Council to give the taxpayers of Fort Saskatchewan a
vote on the Civic Square project, just as was done
for the Dow Centennial Centre, Harbour Pool and the
Jubilee Recreation Centre.
The Petition does not endorse or oppose the project.
The Petition states:
“We the undersigned electors of the City of Fort
Saskatchewan do hereby petition City Council to hold
a plebiscite to give us the right to vote on the
proposed new Civic Square Project.”
Copies of the Petition are available at: Fort Dental
Clinic and Atomic Computers. until Friday Dec 5th
